Conference Background

The Conference has been held annually for the past 19 years and has grown to become one of the most successful coastal industry events held in Australia. This year sees the celebration of the 20th NSW Coastal Conference. The conference attracts around 280 delegates - who are interested in or working within the field of coastal and estuary management research, education and service provision and policy; - as well as representatives from government, user groups and community volunteer organisations.

In recent years conferences have been held in Batemans Bay (2010), Ballina (2009), Wollongong (2008), Yamba (2007), Coffs Harbour (2006) and Narooma (2005).

The conference commences with an optional arrival drink on the Tuesday evening and with the main conference session beginning on Wednesday morning. The three day event incorporating plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, workshops, field trips (addressing some of the local coastal, estuary and marine management issues), networking events and the Annual NSW Coastal Management Awards.

Annual NSW Coastal Management Awards

We are now calling for Nominations for the Annual NSW Coastal Management Awards, running in conjunction with the NSW Coastal Conference being held in Tweed Heads 8 – 11 November 2011. The Annual NSW Coastal Management Awards are presented to publicly recognise and acknowledge the contributions of individuals, groups, organisations and agencies toward the ecologically sustainable management of the NSW coastal zone. The Awards will be presented on the evening of Thursday 10th November at Twin Towns Clubs & Resorts, Tweed Heads.
