The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) works to protect the state’s environment and heritage. It leads the way on climate change and conserves and protects the state’s natural environment. DCCEEW provides oversight of the state’s coastal management program and is the first point of contact for local councils planning to prepare and implement a CMP.
Along with providing data and technical advice, the department administers the Coastal and Estuary Grants Program, which provides funding for councils to prepare and implement their coastal management program. We will continue to work in partnership with councils and local communities to manage the coast.
We acknowledge the ongoing custodial responsibilities of the Aboriginal peoples of NSW to care for Country and water and are committed to establishing meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal peoples in the management of the environment.
